Khao San Road is located about 35km from Bangkok Airport (Suvarnabhumi) and there are 4 ways to get to it, i.e. shuttle bus, private transfer, public taxi, and train. Below are the details for each of the transportation options:

1. Shuttle Bus

The S1 Bus is the cheapest way to get to Khaosan Road from the Suvarnabhumi but it doesn’t take you directly into it as it stops at the Phra Nakorn area, located about 10-15 minutes from the inner road itself. The bus can be taken directly at gate 7 of the airport, located on level 1 of the terminal.

Below are the details of taking the bus:

  • Cost: THB 60 per person
  • Travel duration: 50-120 minutes
  • Seating accommodation: AC, comfortable seat (total of 35 seats available)
  • Suitable for: Passengers with at most 2 luggage
  • Additional information: The bus leaves every 30-35 mins.

2. Private Transfer

Private transfer is the most expensive transportation option of all, but also the best in our opinion due to comfort, privacy, and door-to-door drop-off and pickup. There are various private transfer companies to choose from and each offers various options, such as Sedan cars, vans, or even luxury limousines. You can either book these directly from the BKK or search online for the one that suits your budget and requirements.

Below are the details of taking the private transfer:

  • Cost: THB 900 – THB 1,800 per trip
  • Travel duration: 40-50 minutes
  • Seating accommodation: AC, comfortable seat with privacy
  • Suitable for: All types of passengers
  • Additional information: The service includes everything, making it a hassle-free and seamless travel experience.

3. Public Taxi

Just like private transfers, public taxi provides a similar travel experience of hassle-free and door-to-door services in comfortable AC seats and vehicles. Taxis are located on level 1 of the airport terminal and it operates on a metered basis.

Below are the details of taking the public tax:

  • Cost: THB 400 – THB 600 per trip, excluding toll taxes
  • Travel duration: 40-50 minutes
  • Seating accommodation: AC, comfortable seat with privacy
  • Suitable for: 2-4 passengers with 2-5 luggage.
  • Additional information: Public taxis operate on a metered basis. So avoid the one that refuses to use the meter as it’s one of the common scams in Thailand.

4. Train

There is no direct train to Khao San Road from Suvarnabhumi Airport and it requires 2 steps to get to the place, which makes this way of traveling the least preferred way of all. Below are the steps to reach the destination:

  1. Board the Airport Rail Link (ARL) train from the BKK located on level B of the terminal to Phaya Thai Station.
  2. Next, get off the last train station and from here, either take a taxi or bus to Khaosan Road, which is located about 5km from the last stop. To take a taxi, just look for one nearby and for the bus, there’s a bus stop nearby (bus number 59) which takes you to the destination.

Below are the details of taking the train:

  • Cost: THB 45 from the Airport, and another THB 70 for the taxi or THB 18 for the bus.
  • Travel duration: 30 minutes to Phaya Thai Station and another 15 minutes to Khao San Road
  • Seating accommodation: AC, less comfortable seat with less space.
  • Suitable for: Passengers with at most 2 luggage.
